Axemaster 2009 Results

First of all, thanks to everybody for coming. This was the largest Axemaster field we've had so far, and it was great to see some new players. Things went pretty smoothly given that it was the first tournament I've run, and people seemed to be having a good time. We also want to thank Mil Sims again for sponsoring the tournament and supplying prizes - without their help the spoils of victory would be pretty slim.

Axemaster 2009

Axemaster this year will be run on the 19th-20th of September, 2009.

  • Warhammer Fantasy 7th edition rules
  • 2500pt armies
  • Six games over two days
  • $30 entry

The venue is our usual haunt:

Hampton Community Center,
14 Willis St. Hampton, VIC

Club on the 27th

The games club will be run at my place this saturday (the 27th of december) starting at 12. I have room for 3 tables so everyone won't be able to play at the same time but that doesn't matter hugely. It is likely we'll have to finish up a bit earlier than normal as some of us are probably heading to the football in the evening.

There will be no charge, (unlike those scurrelous bastards that run the real club with their inordinate fees and taxes, just kidding btw) but bring something along for everyone to share.

Congratulations to the Cousenator!

Our congratulations to Chris, who qualified (albeit only just) for this years WHFB Masters tournament in Sydney.

Play well, and may your dice always roll 6's, except of course when taking LD tests.

Campaign Rules

Here are the rules we're going to be using for the map-based campaign.

Rules are to be used as per the original Mighty Empires rules (you can download them from the GW site), except where described below.

Banners

A character must be able to be a general to lead a banner. Characters like Assassins, Liches, Necromancers and battle standard bearers may not lead a banner.

Removed Rules

The following rules will not be used (exclude the entire phase where applicable):

A 10,000pt battle report featuring High Elves, Dwarves and an awful lot of Vampires...

On the principle that bigger equals better, a bunch of us decided to play a fairly substantial game for a change. The new Vampire Counts book had just been released, complete with incredibly expensive Vampire characters, so I was slightly amazed to find I could actually make a 5000pt army fairly easily (having over 2000pts just in Vampire Lords helped). The hugeness of it all attracted legions of bystanders, onlookers, hecklers and the like, some of whom handily came eqipped with cameras. Since we ended up with a ton of photos, I thought it'd be shame not to do something with them. Here follow my (probably incomplete and biased) recollections of a pretty big game between the noble alliance of High Elves (Greg) and Dwarves (Aaron) and the fiendish and black-hearted but impeccably-dressed Vampire Counts (Ben and Pete).
